Common Questions About Our Courses & Sessions

  • Yes. Counselling receipts are provided for 1:1 counselling sessions facilitated under Cheryl’s credentials as a Registered Social Worker (M.S.W., R.S.W.).
Most extended health plans in Ontario offer coverage for counselling with an R.S.W., but please confirm with your provider.

  • Eligible for insurance (Ontario residents only):

These services are delivered in a clinical psychotherapy framework and fall under Cheryl’s MSW/RSW designation:

    • 1:1 Counselling Sessions (50 minutes)

    • Jungian/Depth Counselling sessions

    • Dreamwork sessions with a clinical focus, such as

      • exploring subconscious material

      • emotional processing

      • identifying patterns and defenses

      • trauma-informed integration

      • symbolic or archetypal themes connected to distress

    • Shadow work conducted within counselling sessions, including

      • relational shadow dynamics

      • emotional, cognitive, and behavioral integration

If you plan to submit your clinical dreamwork or shadow work session to insurance, please book under “Jungian Counselling.”
This ensures the session is framed and documented as clinical psychotherapy.

  • These offerings are non-clinical, educational, reflective, or personal/spiritual growth-oriented, even though they may be deeply meaningful:

    • Dreamwork sessions booked outside the counselling framework

    • Shadow work workshops, courses, or circles

    • Journaling guidance

    • Creative/inner work processes

  • That’s completely okay. Dreamwork is optional and only included if it feels supportive to you. Counselling sessions are always guided by your needs, goals, and comfort level.

  • Yes. Cheryl offers non-clinical sessions (dreamwork, journaling, shadow exploration, creative symbolic work) internationally.

However, only counselling provided to Ontario residents is eligible for insurance reimbursement.

  • Coverage varies widely.
Before booking, please confirm whether your plan includes:

  • Yes, participants are encouraged to connect and share experiences, fostering a supportive community of like-minded individuals.

Cheryl cannot issue counselling (MSW/RSW) receipts for:

    • Journaling: Writing to the Center of Who You Are (9-week program)

    • Dreamwork Foundations

    • Shadow Work Workshops or Retreats

    • Creative/Intuitive Workshops

    • Monthly Journaling Circle

Special note about the 9-Week Journaling Transformational Course

While deeply reflective and supportive, this program is not a psychotherapy group and therefore:

    • ❌ cannot be billed to insurance

Participants may, however, book 1:1 counselling sessions during or after the program, which are eligible for insurance.

  • You can choose:

    • Counselling (eligible for insurance, Ontario residents)

    • Non-clinical dreamwork/shadow/journaling sessions (global)

    • A blended session

Blended sessions are billed as counselling only when the primary focus is clinical, such as:

    • emotional processing

    • identifying patterns or defences

    • working with subconscious material in a therapeutic way

    • trauma-informed care

    • inner–outer alignment

    • integrating shadow aspects

Cheryl will help you decide which format best fits your needs and intentions.

  • Yes — a general receipt is provided for all services.

However, dreamwork, shadow work, or journaling sessions are only insurance-eligible when booked under clinical counselling (Counselling or Jungian Counselling) and when the session’s focus is psychotherapeutic in nature.

  • Shadow work is a depth-psychology process of exploring the parts of yourself that operate outside conscious awareness—repressed emotions, patterns, beliefs, and protective responses. Through this work, you integrate these parts with compassion, reducing internal conflict and increasing self-understanding.

  • Shadow work brings unconscious patterns into awareness, allowing you to respond with choice rather than habit. This creates space for emotional clarity, healthier relationships, and a more grounded sense of self.

  • They overlap but are not identical.
Shadow work focuses on unconscious themes and patterns; trauma work focuses on nervous system healing and processing overwhelming experiences.
Both approaches can be safely integrated in counselling.

  • No. Shadow work meets you where you are.
You only need curiosity and a willingness to explore gently.
We move slowly, safely, and at a pace that feels right for you.
